Dr. Healey is in his 33rd year as an educator in Prince William County, including 18 years as a high school principal (both at Colgan and Osbourn Park). He has also been an English teacher, an assistant principal, and served for five years as the Associate Superintendent for Student Learning and Accountability on the Superintendent’s Staff.
Dr. Healey was named the Virginia Student Council Association’s (VSCA) “Administrator of the Year” in 2021 and is the Immediate Past President for the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP). Additionally, he is on the James Madison University College of Education’s Executive Advisory Council. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Mary Washington and currently is teaching at Longwood University.
Dr. Healey has co-authored two books on the ninth-grade transition and written articles for Principal Leadership, The Education Digest, and Our Children magazines. Dr. Healey has been a presenter for the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the National School Boards Association.
Dr. Healey earned his doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech, his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Virginia Tech, and a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education from James Madison University.
Dr. Healey lives in Prince William County with his wife (who is a teacher in PWCS), and together they have three adult children all of whom graduated from Prince William County Public Schools
