Welcome New Colgan Faculty

Colgan family we invite you to discover the stories our the faculty joining us for the 2020-2021 school year. 


Ms. Gonzalez, Libarian

Kerri Gonzalez graduated with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University. She is currently working on a graduate certificate in Educational Technology through James Madison University. Previously, Ms. Gonzalez was a librarian and archivist at an independent high school in Northern Virginia. As an avid reader, she loves to talk about books and hopes to inspire students to be lifelong readers. She also enjoys traveling, running, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.



Mr. Ennis, Libarian

 Mr. Ennis has earned a BA in English from James Madison University and a M.S.Ed from Old Dominion University. He spends most of his time with his family and his books.  Mr. Ennis’ favorite author is Fyodor Dostoyevsky.  Mr. Ennis loves playing Dungeons and Dragons and finding ways to incorporate it into his lessons.  His academic focus is on controlling cognitive bias in student research.  Mr. Ennis  likes science, literature, and philosophy.  He is interested in podcasting and voice acting.  Mr. Ennis loves it when people come to the library with questions. 


Ms. Flaherty, Counselor

Erin Flaherty started her school counseling career thirteen years ago in Prince William County at Bennett Elementary School. At Bennett, Mrs. Flaherty worked to achieve the American School Counselor Association's Recognized National Model Program distinction. She is very excited to join the Colgan Counseling Department this school year. She is most excited to get to know the students and their families. 

Mrs. Flaherty studied at Penn State University, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Family. Additionally, she attended The College of William and Mary earning a Master's of Education in Counselor Education with a concentration in School Counseling. 

Mrs. Flaherty loves to spend time with her husband and daughter. She loves all things Pittsburgh and Penn State. In her spare time she likes to read, try new recipes, travel to new places, and run the occasional half marathon. 


Ms. An, Counslor

Ms. An will be graduating this spring from the University of Virginia with her M. Ed. in Counselor Education. She was born and raised in Richmond, VA and earned her B.S. in Psychology at Christopher Newport University. Following graduation, she spent 5 years in South Korea teaching at the elementary level and loved her experience living abroad. She is excited to start her school counseling journey at Colgan High School this fall and can’t wait to get to know the staff and students! 



Ms. Staley, Choral Director

Keri Staley has over 15 years experience as a high school and middle school choir director in FCPS and LCPS.  Her highly acclaimed choirs have performed with the City Choir of Washington, Fairfax County Honors Gala, and a European Tour.  With her BFA in musical theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory, Ms. Staley works as musical director and pit conductor within her community.  She has choreographed show choirs over 15 years and played the oboe with Shenandoah Conservatory Orchestra and Fairfax Wind Symphony.  Ms. Staley is a sought after guest artist focusing on healthy vocal production within a choir setting and a choral adjudicator for state assessment and other choral competitions .  She was with the Voce Chamber Choir as alto section leader/featured soloist and currently serves as Vice President of Caritas Nova, a professional women's choir in the DC area.  

As a professional vocalist, New York's Cabaret Exchange describes Ms. Staley's voice as "a lovely and clear sound drenched with real feeling."   Her past performances include her cabaret performances in 2014 & 2015 at NextStop Theatre, the Spirit of Washington,  The Cosmopolitan Sisters (an Andrews Sisters tribute), guest performer with the George Gee Swing Orchestra, solo artist with Blue Sky 5 swing band, and vocalist with Jim Van a Open Road tour.  Ms. Staley had the honor of performing for the opening of DC's WWII Memorial.  Other performance venues include Union Station, Glen Echo Park, Don't Tell Mama, and NYC's Barnes & Noble of 66th & Broadway.  Her voice can be heard on the Grammy-nominated CD, Open Road. 

Ms. Staley is excited to join the Colgan community.  Her twin sons will be attending Benton MS and her daughter will be a Kindergartner at Penn ES.  Go Sharks! 


Ms. Nance, FACS Teacher

Mrs. Nance is coming to Colgan from Potomac High School.  She has been teaching for 10 years in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences. She is happily married with two wonderful children and loves reading. She is excited to be a part of the Colgan community.





Ms. Wheeler, HPE Techer


Michele Wheeler has over 20 years of experience teaching combined in the college, middle school, and high school settings. She went to Salisbury State University where she played field hockey and lacrosse and was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Mississippi State University where she earned her Master’s degree in Sports Administration. Michele was a Certified Athletic Trainer at Forest Park high school in its inaugural year, where she taught 9th and 10th grade Health and P.E./D.E. and coached JV field hockey as well.


Ms. Boyette, English Teacher


Ms. Boyette grew up in the DC Metropolitan area and has also lived in Aurora, Colorado. She earned both her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and her Master’s of Education with an emphasis in secondary education English, from George Mason University. Her favorite hobbies include reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. Ms. Boyette is so excited to join the teaching staff at Colgan and is looking forward to the upcoming school year. Go Sharks! 


Ms. Cooney, English Teacher

Mrs. Lynnette Cooney graduated from Hylton High School in 2004. After many years in the workforce she returned to school to study English and Secondary Education at George Mason University. She completed her teaching internship in a co-taught 11th grade classroom at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax County. When she is not teaching, she enjoys time with her husband and son reading, geocaching, and successfully completing room escapes together.



Mr. DeMayo, English Teacher


Mr. DeMayo is a proud native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he earned a B.A. in English and Secondary Education. He also graduated from Georgetown University with a M.A. in English Literature. He is excited to begin his first year at Colgan High School.  Go Sharks.




Ms. Lewicki, English Teacher

Mrs. Lewicki graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and then pursued her Master in Education degree for secondary education English. She has taught middle and high school English and loves the unique opportunities working with young people presents. 





Ms. Carey, English Teacher

Ms. Carey was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She studied history and secondary education at George Mason University. She has taught English and Journalism.







Ms. Dobson, teacher of deaf and hard of hearing 

Ms. Dobson joined PWCS in 2001 and has taught a myriad of subjects to deaf and hard of hearing students, as well as those with other learning abilities. Ms. Dobson is the 3rd generation of educators, so she is proud to be in this profession. Ms. Dobson is thrilled to be in the high school setting. 

Ms. Dobson earned a Master of Science in Education where she majored in English and Deaf Education and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology respectively


Ms. Chandler, Teacher for Special Needs

Mrs. Chandler has a Master’s Degree in Counseling and her Teaching Certification in Special Education.  She taught at Pace West for 5 years before having her children.  She is coming back to work at Colgan now that her kids are graduating high school (her daughter is a Senior at Colgan this year).  She is very excited to be working with Autistic Youth.





Ms. Sisco

 Corinne Sisco is in her sixth year in Prince William County. She has taught English as a Second Language at Rosa Parks Elementary School for five years.  Miss Sisco is from a small town in New York and received her Bachelors of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), from the State University of New York at Cortland.  Before moving to Virginia, she lived in Manchester, United Kingdom, and received a graduate certificate in Linguistics from the University of Manchester. She also received her Masters in Education Leadership from George Mason University. She is passionate about working with English Learners and is a life-long learner. She loves spending time with family (and her cat!), reading, watching movies, and playing board games.  Miss Sisco is excited to be apart of the Colgan family!  


Ms. Caggiano, Social Studies Teacher

Amanda Caggiano grew up in Northern Virginia and is a proud George Mason University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in history. After earning her undergraduate degree, she ventured out to Rome, Italy where she earned her master’s degree from St. Johns in government and politics (and then stayed for a couple years!). Ms. C recently left a career where she spent over 10 years working for the Federal Government to join Colgan. She is excited to guide students on their historical journey of this amazing world!



Ms. Larson, Social Studies Teacher

Denise Larson grew up in Poolesville, MD, where she attended Poolesville High School. After that, she went to Colgate University in upstate NY where she majored in History, minored in Educational Studies, studied abroad in London to do history research, and ran Division 1 Cross Country and Track & Field. Then, she went to the Harvard Graduate School of Education for a Masters of Education through their Teacher Education Program. She's eager to begin her career teaching at Colgan! When Denise isn't teaching, she likes to run, hike, cook, drink coffee, do yoga, and travel. 


Mr. Deem, Social Studies Teacher

Mr. Deem is new to Colgan this year. Mr. Deem holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from James Madison University. He was born and raised in Prince William County and graduated from Osbourn Park High School. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and has been published in the JMU Scholarly Commons. He is a strong advocate for social studies education and believes that social studies classes should focus on fostering real world skills. He enjoys collecting movies, reading history books, visiting historic sites, and camping in the Shenandoah Valley. He is excited for the 2020-2021 school year!


Ms. Foutz, Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Foutz is so excited to be joining the Colgan family this year! She previously taught at Benton Middle School in PWCS from 2015-2020. Mrs. Foutz graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2010 with her undergraduate degree, and in 2017 with her master’s degree from Capella University. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Foutz enjoys spending time with her family, and going on fun adventures. Mrs. Foutz loves to travel and has been to 49 of the 50 states. She hopes to explore Alaska in the near future! Mrs. Foutz is looking forward to a great school year and the opportunity to work with each of her students.


Ms. Trigg, Social Studies Teacher

Having a father in the Navy and mother from Naples, Italy, Ms. Trigg had the unique experience of growing up in two places: Naples, Italy and Virginia Beach, VA. Her experience as a “military-brat” has led to her passion for traveling and history. Ms. Trigg attended James Madison University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Italian, as well as her Masters Degree in Secondary Education.




Ms. Pawlik, Science Teacher

Communicating a passion for STEM to excited students, Lori has led Project Lead the Way modules, coached First LEGO League Robotics teams, and brought students outside to observe and create journals. She enjoys using real-world data in her lessons to engage students and empower them to care. Lori is a certified Virginia Stream Monitor and has presented on STEM at multiple educational levels. Recent awards include the Prince William County Schools 2018 Science Teacher of the Year and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. Lori earned a B.S. in Physics from the University of Washington, a M.S. in Education from Old Dominion University, and a certificate in K-12 educational leadership from James Madison University. She is a National Geographic Certified Educator and Community Leader and has a NASA Endeavor certificate in STEM education from Teachers College, Columbia University.  After years of military family traveling, she calls the Shark Tank area... home


Ms. Good, Science Teacher

Lisa Good has been teaching biology for years, but this is her first year at Colgan High School. Prior to teaching at Colgan, she taught at Lake Ridge Middle School and at a high school in Arizona before relocating to Virginia.  Mrs. Good has her B.S. in Biology from the University of Arizona and her M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona. She loves being outside, scuba diving, zip-lining, riding roller coasters and being with her family.

I am excited to share my love of science and the natural world with you! Biology is all around us and so much fun when you understand how it all fits together.


Ms. Donovan, French Teacher

Ms. Donovan received her BA in French from the University of Virginia. She then worked with French high schools through TAPIF (Teaching Abroad Program in France) teaching English outside of Nantes, France for two years before completing her Master’s in French at the University of British Columbia. She has taught various levels of French at UBC, VCU, and John Tyler Community College.




Ms. Kass, Math Teacher

Ms. Kass was born in Oklahoma and has moved over 30 times.  She has been in education for 13 years.  She has a B.S. from Madonna University in Mathematics Education and a M.S. from Madonna University in Educational Leadership.

 Ms. Kass loves to run, swim, read, and travel.  She has a “bucket list” and makes sure that she takes at least one thing off the list each year.  Previous list items have included: going on a cruise, taking a hot air balloon ride, and skydiving.
