Graduation Ceremony

On Saturday June 10th at 9 a.m., Colgan High School is hosting its graduation ceremony in the Colgan Stadium. Join us as we celebrate our graduating seniors and their accomplishments over the past four years.

When are graduation practices

There are two mandatory graduation practices, June 8th and June 9th at 8 am. Students report to the auditorium and are in their seat no later than 8 am. Students who do not attend both practices will not be able to participate in the graduation ceremony. Practice will be over before 11 am

Colgan has a custom gown unique to the school. The cost is $40. Jostens will deliver the Caps and Gowns during the weeks prior to graduation. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, order as soon as possible to gurantee delivery before graduation.

How many tickets will families receive?

Tickets:

Families receive 8 tickets for the day of the ceremony. Students will need to satisfy outstanding obligations like laptop, library books, and uniforms. 

 

Additional Tickets

Families may request additional tickets for graduation until May 1st. Colgan will do everything to accomodate all requests. Families will be notified by May 15th regarding their requests.

How do I request accessible seating and parking?

Accessible Seating and Parking

AFamilies may request accessible seating and/or parking as needed. Accessible seating will be reserved on the track for individuals who not be able to sit in the bleachers. If you have a guest who requires seeting or parking accommodations, please submit the request no later May 1st. Accessible seating and parking passes will be distributed at graduation practice on June 9th.

What are the plans for inclement weather?

Inclement Weather and Rain Delays

The ceremony will start at 9 am. In the event of light rain  will not threat of thunder, lightning or heavy downpour, the ceremony will proceed as scheduled. In the event of severe weather, teh ceremony will be delayed in hourly increments. If the graduation ceremony is postponed, the ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 11th at 6 pm. 

During the week of graduation and the day of the ceremony, check the Colgan HS website and Colgan social media channels for any changes to the ceremony start time.

Video and Photographs

Livestream

The Class of 2023 graduation will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook. Families can share the link graduation.colganhs.com with family members to watch the ceremony.

The ceremony will be recorded and a link will be provided for a free download of the ceremony as a momento.

Photographs

Colgan partners with Candid Color for our school pictures, and Candid Color will have photographers to capture the moments of graduation for each senior. Graduation photos will be available 5 to 7 days following the ceremony. Visit Candid Color and select graduation day.

Senior Internship

The last day of school for student's participating in the Colgan Internship Experience is May 19. All Colgan courses close on May 19th.

Students participating in dual enrollment, virtual Prince William, or virtual Virginia are expected to continue with their classes

If a student has questions about grades and end of the year projects, reach out to your teacher before May 19th.

During Your Internship

  • Seniors complete 50 internship hours between May 22-June 2
    • The hours can be combined on location experiences, remote work, and preparation for the presentation

Presentations

You will be given a table in the cafeteria to deliver you presenation. PWCS staff and Colgan students will visit you table.

  • 3 presentations - (10 minutes each)
    • 5 to 7 minutes to share your internship experience
    • 3 to 5 minutes to answer questions from the attendees at your table
    • 5 minute break in between presenations for attendees to choose their next table. 
  •  Presentation Tips:
    • Arrive 15 minutes before your presentation time to find your table and set up
    • Create Canva or Powerpoint slides or scroll through your Unrulr feed to share your experience from your laptop or device
    • Attend a presentation workshop in the career center if you need help preparing for your presentation
      • Presentation workshops are from 8 am to 3 pm  on Wednesday May 31st, Thursday June 1st, and Friday June 2nd. 

Senior Exam Exemptions

  • After you complete your presentation you will be exempt from all your senior exams.
    • If you do not participate in the presentation, you are responsible for your senior exams
