Mr. Mason, CTE teacher
Mr. Mason is a Technology Education and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) certified teacher and adviser to Colgan's National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) student chapter. He was raised in Prince William County where he attended Stonewall Jackson Senior High School. Mr. Mason earned his Bachelor’s degree at Nazarene Bible College and a Master’s Certificate in Government Contracting from Villanova University. Prior to teaching, Mr. Mason served over 15 years in progressive leadership roles, including executive levels, within the corporate sector where he provided services and managed accounts with DoD, GSA, NOAA, and other federal and corporate agencies. Mr. Mason is an Army Veteran with over 20 years of service within progressive leadership positions and assignments around the world, including direct combat engagement. Mr. Mason has a wife of over 36 years, and a son who is a USMC Veteran and currently working as a satellite Network Operations Engineer. Mr. Mason holds Technology Education and Business Information Technology teaching endorsements. He is PLTW certified in Civil Engineering and Architecture and Introduction to Engineering. Mr. Mason is happy to be teaching Civil Engineering and Architecture (PLTW), Construction Technology, and Production Systems this year.

  1. Students:
    • Use Canvas as the primary means of contact, especially when asking specific questions about assignments and class activities.
    • An open Zoom session to answer general questions is conducted each school day (Tue through Fri) during the Virtual Office Hours. A Zoom session link is provided in Canvas.
  2. Parents: Email is the best contact method. Canvas can be used as well. 

In most cases I will provide a response by the end of the same business day in which it was received, but no later than one business day.

Correspondence 

  • All official correspondence to students is communicated using Canvas, and Email.
  • Information regarding assignment makeup, re-do, enrichment, etc. is posted in Canvas.
  • Official grading is posted to the Hub. Students and parents can view this information through the StudentVue / ParentVue system.
  • Zoom is the platform used to conduct synchronous classes.
