Mr. Mason, CTE teacher
Mr. Mason is a Technology Education and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) certified teacher, and adviser to Colgan's National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) student chapter. He was raised in Prince William County where he attended Stonewall Jackson Senior High School. Mr. Mason earned his Bachelor’s degree at Nazarene Bible College and a Master’s Certificate in Government Contracting from Villanova University. Prior to teaching he served over 15 years in progressive leadership roles, including executive levels, within the corporate sector where he provided services and managed accounts with DoD, GSA, NOAA and other federal and corporate agencies. Mr. Mason is an Army Veteran with over 20 years of service within progressive leadership positions and assignments around the world, including combat zones. Mr. Mason has a wife of over 35 years, and a son who is a USMC Veteran and currently working as a satellite Network Operations Engineer. Mr. Mason holds Technology Education and Business Information Technology teaching endorsements. He is teaching Civil Engineering and Architecture (PLTW), Communication Systems, and Construction Technology.

Students check MS Teams for your class.

Parents, access to MS Teams is through the student's school issued MS Office 365 accounts. Their MS Office 365 login credentials are the same as with their computer login at school. Students have access to their email, student drive and MS Office applications through their MS Office 365 account.

Construction Technology: Access to MS Teams was provided to each student,  for their respective Construction Technology class. Students must check their school email for access.

Communication Systems: Students check MS Teams for instructions to download free Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Etc.)

Instructional Guidance - As of March 20, 2020

  1. Minimize student stress - do not assign new work to students at this difficult time.
  2. No new graded work should be assigned until further notice (at least April 14).
  3. Al due dates of previously assigned work should be pushed to at least April 14, or beyond.
  4. All work is optional during this time.
  5. Teachers can work with students on making connections, on thinking, and critical questioning.
  6. The goal is not to give large packets, busy work, or worksheets.
  7. Teachers can and should give helpful growth-producing feedback to students, but not assign any letter or numerical grades.

Note: I will be posting optional resources in the respective MS Teams sites during the days and weeks ahead.

Correspondence

  •  All official correspondence is communicated through the student's school email account.
  • Assignments and student communications are managed using MS Teams, and the student's school issued email. MS Teams is accessible through the student's school issued portal/MS Office 365.
  • Information regarding assignment makeup, re-do, enrichment, etc. is posted in MS Teams for the corresponding class. New information will be posted as it becomes available.
  • MS Teams access has been provided to Construction Technology students. This is new for Construction Technology students. They should check their school email for access.
  • Official assignment grading can be viewed using the StudentVue and ParentVue system. Note: Until further notice, no new gradable assignments are being given.
